Solicitor: Litigation & Regulatory (Manchester)

Description:

An exciting new role has arisen within a central government organisation in Manchester.
 
The role will last for a period of 12 weeks but may be extended subject to workloads.
 
Candidates wishing to apply for the role should be good all rounder lawyers with a heavy slant on contentious law. You will also be responsible for FOI and data protection matters so experience of this would be preferred.
 
Duties to include;
 
·         Defending civil claims against the Authority
·         Preparing cases and providing representation at inquests and judicial review
·         Handling own advocacy
·         Attending to Freedom of Information Requests under the Data Protection Act for disclosure
·         Attending directions hearings and attending with counsel
·         Providing telephone and written advice
·         Responding to and advising colleagues in relation to queries under PACE
·         Considering evidence and pursuing applications where relevant under Proceeds of Crime Act/Sexual Offences Prevention Orders Act
·         Advising/applying for and representing the Force in respect of Closure Orders, Football Banning Orders
·         Advising in relation to applications/reviews of premises license/firearms license.
 
CVs should demonstrate your recent working knowledge of childcare matters. Candidates who have dealt with public law from the parent angle will be considered but local authority candidates will be preferred.
