Project Solicitor - PPP/PFI (West Yorkshire)

Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced PFI/PPP Project Solicitor (maternity cover) to work on Housing projects for a local authority based in West Yorkshire. 
Candidates should be a solicitor or barrister, preferably with PQE, holding or qualified to hold a current practising certificate in England and Wales.  
Candidates should have experience of legal work on major procurements in either the public or private sectors, and have working knowledge of at least two of the following areas of law:
·         contracts and commercial
·         public procurement
·         local government
·         PFI

Candidates should also be able to demonstrate understanding of the role and practical application of Contracts and Financial Procedure rules. The main duties would consist of undertaking legal work of a specialist and/or complex nature, including:
·         participating in negotiations on behalf of the Council with bidding consortia and their advisers at all stages of the procurement process
·         participating in the assessment of bidders and in the evaluation of bids submitted.·         preparation of advice to officers and members
·         drafting of contracts
·         drafting and presentation of reports and other documentation
·         development of  pre-procurement, procurement, and post-procurement documentation for projects
·         development and implementation of appropriate risk management strategies 
The successful candidate would be remunerated at between £20 and £21.50 per hour dependent on experience. The successful candidate should be able to start as soon as possible in order for a period of handover with the current postholder before the commencement of her maternity leave
