NEW ROLE Data Protection Lawyer (12 Month FTC)

The Data Protection Lawyer role is a non-fee earning role, and will be responsible for:

• Provision of advice on data protection issues relating to the processing of employee, pension scheme member and client data.

• Provision of advice on data protection issues in other jurisdictions and on data security issues.

• Design and delivery of audit procedures, in order to identify potential gaps in compliance with the Data Protection Act 1998, related legislation, industry rules and codes of practice. Providing business-focused recommendations for improvement to relevant departments and assisting with implementation.

• Developing and implementing relevant data protection policies and procedures.

• Producing and delivering data protection training to partners, fee earners and other employees of the firm.



The successful applicant will have:

• The clear ability to act as an expert on data protection issues.

• Displays knowledge of key areas of the law by providing clear, precise, practical advice

• Proven project management skills, with strong attention to detail and a thorough and organised work style

The successful applicant will be a solicitor with significant experience of the Data Protection Act 1998 and related regulations, having:

• Strong, practical expertise in data protection law gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level.

• Knowledge of Solicitor's Rules, Anti-Money Laundering legislation and Confidentiality requirements

• Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree.

• Clear understanding of the operation and structure of a Top 20 law firm

• Ability to achieve continuous improvement and development
